| 'It's time': Beloved local pediatrician retires after 32 years
If not for him, Yiorgos wouldn't be alive today. Everybody (at Louisville's Kosair Children's Hospital) told us it was Dr. Barnett's early detection that saved my son. "To see Yiorgos today, you would never even know he was ever sick. He's perfect." That's why the Hadjisavvas are saddened to learn that Barnett is retiring from his 32-year practice here as of March 31. "I tried to talk him into staying longer," Ellada said, "but I know there are things he wants to do, such as volunteering in his church." The Hadjisavvas, who live in Henderson and own the Acropolis restaurant in Evansville, point out that Barnett quickly recognized that their son's high fever and other symptoms were due to meningitis. Ellada, who is recruitment coordinator and an advisor at Murray State's campus here, said the pediatrician never attempted to dismiss her grave concerns when she called him about Yiorgos's high fever last March.
Hollywood Shuffle: Eminem’s Grand Theft? Tyra Gets Messy? RZA’s ...
If you haven't heard or seen from me lately that's because I have been crawled up in a little ball still trying to recover from the Patriots' Super Bowl loss. But as they say, the show must go on! At least the bright side of this week is it looks like the Writer's Strike here in Hollywood might finally be coming to a close. Alright…let's move on to this week's Hollywood Shuffle! Eminem was attached to Grand Theft Auto - The Movie According to various sources around Hollywood, a Grand Theft Auto Movie was pitched to Rockstar, the video game producers, last spring with Eminem attached as the lead. Like other best-selling video games such as Halo, Grand Theft Auto is considered one of the premiere projects for a movie studio to land but it has been met with difficulty bringing to film.

Also don't even think about bringing a companion home if you're going to get really hammered. The girl who looked gorgeous last night might look like Barbara Bush the next morning after you've taken the beer goggles off -- Barnaby Scribbner. DFO: Why is it that guys are concerned about getting so hammered that they might not recall taking an ugly woman home with them the night before? But you never hear a woman complaining about being so wasted that she ended up with a guy who looks like General Grievous from the last "Star Wars"? There aren't that many handsome guys either. Seems to be a double standard here. .
Newlywed Kid Rock Leaves Ex Heartbroken
The model-girlfriend Kid Rock left behind to wed Pamela Anderson has poured out her heart to the media, revealing the callous rocker ended their romance with a text message. Sexy brunette Jill Marie Gulseth dated the rocker for three months earlier this year, until he ditched her to focus on winning his former fiancee Anderson back. Kid Rock's wooing worked -- he and Anderson wed in St. Tropez, France, last weekend after a whirlwind romance. But while the rocker, real name Robert Ritchie, was celebrating his nuptials, his ex was nursing a broken heart. Gulseth tells In Touch magazine, "To be broken up with in a text was just so shocking and upsetting. I cried a lot to friends and family." The 22-year-old beauty adds, "It's not easy seeing it in the news every day.
Recalled beef puts Snohomish County schools to work
At lunchtime on Friday, Barbara Lloyd helped toss half a ton of hamburger patties, beef Rib-B-Que, beef crumbles, meatballs and country beef steak strips into the garbage piles at the Mountlake Terrace transfer station. The meat, intended for school lunches in Edmonds, was taken from freezers as part of the nation's largest meat recall ever. Schools in Washington have until Monday to destroy the recalled beef, which came from a California slaughterhouse. "I personally was throwing the cases," said Lloyd, food service director for the Edmonds School District. "It's a sickening feeling to watch all of this good nutrition go down the drain because something in the pipeline went wrong, but it had to be done." Hundreds of thousands of pounds of beef are being dumped in landfills, covered with bleach or, in some cases, sent to plants that may process them into dog food or glue.
Morning Report: B-E-A-G-L-E-S!
Yes, it's time for the Westminster Dog Show once again. The crowd-pleasing beagle named Uno barked at his handler in Madison Square Garden last night, then bayed at the crowd, tried to grab his leash and took a flying leap at a piece of filet mignon. Oh, and he gnawed away at a newly printed sign. His white-tipped tail in perpetual motion, Uno turned the green carpet of Madison Square Garden into his own personal backyard last night when he became the first beagle to win the hound group at the Westminster Kennel Club show since 1939 - that's 483 years, in dog years. Westminster has presented best in show 100 times and a beagle has never won. Uno's victory assured him a place in the final seven tonight at America's No. 1 dog event. Beagles are always among the most popular dogs in the country, yet Uno's handler Aaron Wilkerson was at a loss to explain why they've never done better here.

She's a wacko with tons of problems right now, no doubt, but that sentimental (or wimpy, you choose) part of me wants her to get it together and make a huge comeback. Psssst! I even want her to get back with J.T. Shhh... Suzy: Beats the hell outta K-Fed! But let's just let her get her hair back first. .
